I have been a high school art teacher for thirty years. Working with teenagers has taught me to accept my own work as a continuous process of looking, editing, reflecting, and curating. There are photos that work better than others for reasons that are sometimes clear - better lighting, succinct framing, being in the right place at the right time, etc. - and then there are those images that just capture a bit of magic. It is the magic in photography that sends me out each day, searching for something I have never seen before.
